Contrary to most descriptions of seaberry you’ll find online, I find that seaberry does not thrive in poor, droughty soils. For me, they prefer moist humus-y garden soil, like most other plants I grow.

Planting and Care:

To ensure fruit production, plant both male and female plants, with one male for every 5-7 females. Space plants 6-8 feet apart to allow for proper growth. While seaberry is low-maintenance, follow these care tips for optimal results:

1. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system.
2. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
3. Harvest berries in late summer to early fall when they’re bright orange and slightly soft.
